September 29, on the eve of the Business Russia mission at WETEX DEWA's innovative energy projects will be present

On September 29, in anticipation of the Business Russia mission to the 23rd International Exhibition on Water Treatment, Energy Technologies and Environmental Protection WETEX-2021, an online session will be held, during which innovative energy projects of the Dubai Electricity Authority and water resources (DEWA) will be presented. DEWA Vice President Abdul Syed Abdul Hameed will deliver an overview presentation. Russian companies — participants of the Business Russia mission at WETEX will also present their projects. The event will be broadcast on the website of the Distributed Power Generation Association.

It is worth mentioning that today WETEX is one of the most reputable energy exhibitions in the world. It is held annually under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the UAE, the Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This year, WETEX will be held for the first time at the World Exhibition EXPO-2020 and will bring together more than ten thousand delegates from 55 countries of the world — leading experts in the field of energy, water technologies, ecology and sustainable development.

WETEX is organized by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), a structure that today provides electricity and water to over 900,000 customers in Dubai and is considered the world's leading innovation corporation in the field of sustainable development. With direct support from DEWA, the UAE is implementing an Energy Strategy that will generate 75% of the country's total energy mix by 2050 and will turn Dubai into a global green economy hub and the world's lowest CO2-emitting city.

To achieve these goals, DEWA is implementing several innovative projects, which will be discussed by DEWA Vice President Mr. Abdul Sayd Abdul Hameed during the online session of Business Russia on September 29.

In particular, the UAE continues to build the solar park of H.H. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the largest solar park in the world, with a design capacity of 5,000 MW by 2030. DEWA has already achieved a world record with the lowest rate of 1.6953 US cents per kilowatt hour using photovoltaic panels based on the IPP model.

Under the leadership of DEWA and with the participation of Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO), Dubai is implementing an ambitious building renovation program aimed at conserving and monitoring energy consumption and installing clean and renewable energy technologies. The program includes the modernization of more than 30,000 buildings in Dubai by 2030 to improve the energy efficiency of urban buildings.

One of the most important DEWA initiatives is the Smart Dubai initiative, in which DEWA encourages residents to install photovoltaic panels in their homes to generate electricity from solar energy and export surplus to the grid. At the moment, solar energy production in Dubai reaches 171.7 MW by private households — this is one of the highest rates in the world.

As a leading global innovation corporation in the field of sustainable development, DEWA attracts the best and most famous developers in the field of renewable energy, artificial intelligence, blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT) and more. This allows to achieve high results in partnership with the private sector. The annual WETEX exhibition brings together the best developments and breakthrough technologies from around the world, which allows DEWA to keep abreast of the world's leading energy trends. This year Russian companies will also present their innovative projects at WETEX.

The Business Russia delegation at WETEX-2021 includes 24 entrepreneurs representing the interests of nine Russian leading companies and organizations working in the field of distributed power energy, mechanical engineering, oil and gas and chemical industries, water technologies, IT, renewable energy sources: MKC Group of Companies, Technologies of Industrial EnergoService LLC, FPC Cosmos-Oil-Gas, LLC Russian Electrotechnical Society , Cyberphysics LLC, ICETECH, M-Cycle Industries Inc, Alprom LLC, as well as the Institute of Arctic Technologies MIPT.

On September 29, as part of an online session, they will present their projects to specialists from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). A more detailed acquaintance with the developments of Russian companies will take place at the stand of Business Russia at WETEX-2021 on October 5-7.

The online session will be moderated by Maksim Zagornov, Business Ambassador of Business Russia to the UAE. The event will be broadcast on the website of the Distributed Power Generation Association.
