New import duties are introduced in the UAE

The new import rules were announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC). Starting from February, all the invoices for international imports amounting to over AED10,000 must be certified by MoFAIC. The rules come into effect on February 1. MoFAIC will charge a AED150 fee for every invoice. Invoices related to personal imports, imports to the FEZ and from the Persian Gulf countries, as well as imports aimed for the army, police and charity are exempted from fees. The commercial invoices may be certified online at the MoFAIC website. Importers have 14 days to pay the certification fees after the transportation entry.
