The «Business Russia» delegation being a part of a business mission to UAE visits Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

On October 20, within the framework of the «Business Russia» mission to the United Arab Emirates, a delegation of Russian entrepreneurs headed by the business ambassador of the organization to the UAE Maksim Zagornov, visited the solar park of Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This facility is considered the largest solar power plant in the world. The solar station is expected to generate 1,000 MW of electric energy by 2020, and 5,000 MW by 2030. This will not only reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuels, but also reduce carbon emissions by 6.5 million tons and create more than 1,000 green working places by 2020.

Built 75 miles from Dubai, the solar park will include the world 's tallest solar tower, with a height of up to 260 metres. In addition, the project will be equipped with the largest thermal energy storage capacity in the world. The Solar Park will present a research cluster, as well as introduce intelligent networks and technologies that allow the generation of electricity and water using solar energy. Investments in this project amounted up to 27 billion dollars. However, the project will achieve the lowest level cost of electricity in the world - 7.3 cents per kilowatt-hour.

During the excursion, the engineers of the Solar Park told the members of the Russian delegation about the specifics of the station, the peculiarities of the solar modules, the technology of panel cleaning, prospects for the development of the project. All participants of the excursion were able to ask questions and get comprehensive answers.

As the Solar Park representatives noted, for the UAE the clean and renewable energy is the key to sustainable development. According to the country's strategy, by 2020 renewable energy sources should account 7% of electricity, by 2030 - 25%, by 2050 - 75%. Taking into consideration the speed of the Solar Park project implementation, this strategy looks quite feasible.

21 International Exhibition on Water Treatment, Energy Technologies and Environmental Protection WETEX-2019 will get started on October 21. the «Business Russia» will present a consolidated stand in the Russian Pavilion. This year the exhibition will unite over 2,500 exhibitors and 10,000 delegates from 50 countries. The global environmental policies, sustainable development and international partnership will be on focus.
