The business mission of Business Russia to the UAE has started. On the first day, the delegation visited Masdar City and KEZAD

On September 26, the business mission of Business Russia to the United Arab Emirates officially started. On the first day of the visit, a delegation of Russian entrepreneurs headed by the Business Ambassador of Business Russia to the UAE Maksim Zagornov visited two Free Zones - Masdar City and KEZAD. The purpose of the visit was to work through the specific issues on localization of production in these Free Zones, search for partners and investors, and strengthen bilateral business contacts.

The delegation of Business Russia included 20 entrepreneurs representing the interests of 10 Russian companies. As noted by the Business Ambassador of Business Russia to the UAE Maksim Zagornov, the program of the mission was designed in such a way as to enable this business trip participants to get the fullest possible understanding of business development in Free Zones of various specializations, territorial affiliation and preferences provided.

In Masdar City, Russian entrepreneurs were welcomed by the Director of the Free Zone Zoë Harries. Masdar City is one of the most demanded economic zones in the world. It specializes in innovations in the fields of energy, IT, space, construction, medicine, etc. Today, more than 1,150 companies operate in Masdar City. According to Zoë Harries, Masdar City is ready to become a base platform for the companies belonging to Business Russia members as well.

Masdar City supports startups through the region's first technology startup accelerator - The Catalyst, a company focused on sustainable development. Masdar City has a well-developed business support system, numerous investment programs and a simple company registration procedure.

There were a tour of the eco-city and a presentation of Masdar City arranged for the delegation of Business Russia. The Director of the Free Zone Zoë Harries and the Chief Investment Officer of The Catalyst accelerator company Shaker Ismail responded to entrepreneurs' questions.

Business Russia delegation has also visited KEZAD – Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi. One of the main objectives of the visit was to discuss the prospects for the creation of the Business Russia’s production site on the territory of the Free Zone. Russian delegation was welcomed by the Director Commercial of KEZAD Khalid Al Marzooqi. He noted that everything possible is being done today to ensure that business from Russia develops in KEZAD.

KEZAD is a part of KEZAD Group, which today unites 12 economic zones. This is a whole ecosystem with a diverse logistics infrastructure, including the port one. This is a huge territory (550 sq. km), prepared infrastructure, it is more than 1,500 resident companies already.

For small and medium-sized enterprises, KEZAD provides special preferences: a simplified registration procedure, state support measures, opportunities for conducting duty-free trade with the GCC countries, obtaining the Made in the UAE status for products.

KEZAD has held a presentation for the delegation of Business Russia. The Commercial Expert of the economic zone Valeriya Grabovskaya answered the entrepreneurs’ questions.
